# bru docs options

> Reference for every flag accepted by bru docs generate.

`bru docs generate` accepts options for the output path, which environments to embed, which requests to include, and whether to link back to the Git repository:

```bash theme={null}
bru docs generate [options]
```

To view the options available in your installed version:

```bash theme={null}
bru docs generate -h
```

The other commands document their options on their own pages: [bru run](/bru-cli/run/options) and [bru import](/bru-cli/import/options).

## Options

| Option | Details |
| - | - |
| `-o`, `--output [file]` | Output path for the HTML file. Parent directories are created and an existing file is overwritten. Default: `<sanitized-collection-name>-documentation.html` in the current directory. |
| `--all-envs` | Embed every environment in the collection. |
| `--envs [a,b]` | Embed only the named environments (comma-separated). Environment names must exist in the collection. |
| `--exclude-envs [a,b]` | Leave the named environments out of the generated documentation (comma-separated). Exclusion wins if the same name also appears in `--envs`. |
| `--tags [a,b]` | Include only requests carrying any matching tag (comma-separated). |
| `--exclude-tags [a,b]` | Exclude requests carrying any matching tag (comma-separated). Exclusion wins if the same tag also appears in `--tags`. |
| `--git-link` | Embed `gitCollectionUrl` so the generated documentation can link to the Git repository. Enabled by default. |
| `--no-git-link` | Omit `gitCollectionUrl`. **Open in Bruno** then uses the download-and-import flow. |

`--exclude-tags` and `--exclude-envs` both take preference when the same name appears on the include and exclude lists.
